Role of the Consultant

In the case team structure at L.E.K., the Consultant has primary responsibility for understanding the client’s strategic issue and producing the facts and analyses that form the basis of our recommendations.

To achieve this, our Consultants manage a team of high-intellect, high-energy associates to collect data, perform rigorous and creative commercial analyses, and apply cutting-edge strategic tools to test and verify the consultant’s hypotheses.

Consultants also work closely with managers and partners to turn their results into precise, practical, actionable recommendations that will have a positive impact on our clients' business.

The Consultant’s client and team management responsibilities include:

  • Breaking down and structuring complex strategies and technical approaches into discrete modules; assigning associates to each module; debriefing associates on the objectives, analytical work steps and deliverables expected for each module
  • Reviewing the work of associates to ensure a high quality analytical product
  • Interfacing with client management to understand the problems, test hypotheses and share interim results
  • Synthesizing the analyses of a team of associates into key findings and actionable recommendations
  • Preparing and delivering formal client presentations that present conclusions and build consensus

Consultants also have opportunities to contribute to the management of the firm through involvement in areas such as:
